Happy Birthday, Angelo

2020 is coming to a close and we are thrilled to enter this new year! 2020 was a trying year and with hope we look to 2021 for a new beginning. What better way to start this new year than celebrating the birth of our founder and my grandfather, Angelo Caputo!

89 years ago on January 1, 1932 in the little town of Mola di Bari, Angelo was born. I want to take this opportunity to share some words.

My grandfather is one of the strongest men I know. I am fortunate enough to hear the stories of his early years- in Italy, coming to America, working, and everything in between. He did not always have it easy. His life was full of obstacles and his ability to overcome them is a true testament to his character. He made great sacrifices in order to give his wife and children the best life possible. He worked tirelessly to provide for his family and never complained because that is the kind of man he is.

He will face any challenge, big or small, head on and he will persevere because of his dedication and strong work ethic.

Most everything he does, he does with his family in mind. His family has since grown to include grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Nothing makes him happier than being surrounded by his loved ones and seeing the smiles on his family’s faces.

I am so blessed to have him as my Nonno, may God bless him always!

We hope you and your family have a safe, happy, and happy New Year!

  3. What a sweet message. I grew up in Chicago near Caputo’s on Harlem. I remember going shopping there with my mom and grandma. It was the only place to get fresh vegetables. We loved it there and I have fond memories of the place. It is fascinating to watch the business grow. I currently live in Naperville, and although Caputo’s is on the other side of town, my sister and I shop there every Saturday, the store opened. We are greeted there every week by employees. We know some of them by name and chat with the while we shop. It is a great place to be for many reasons. Thanks for growing the business while keeping the atmosphere small. It truly feels like home. Congratulations on much success. And a very Happy Birthday to a very great man. Many blessings to Angelo!

  6. Buon Compleanno Nonno Caputo !!
I am such a huge fan of all things CAPUTO. I so enjoy all the varieties of groceries that are offered. If you can’t find it in a Caputo store, it doesn’t exist.
I have been shopping from the opening of the first store when I was 9 or 10, where my dad and I used to take 2 buses there and back and carry home the bags. Beautiful memories of my time spent with my dad.
So, 60+ years later, I am still shopping Caputo, except now I am unable to do my own shopping and I rely on “Shop Caputo”. What a blessing it has been for me. I have met such wonderful employees and Caputo family members and I am always overwhelmed by their concern and willingness to help in any way they can.
So, Nonno Caputo, today is your day to celebrate. Celebrate your birthday, celebrate your accomplishments, and most of all, celebrate your beautiful, loving family. They have continued what you have started with grace and conviction. Your children have produced exceptional grandchildren and they should be very proud of them all.
So, once again, Buon Compleanno to an amazing man. And thank you from the bottom of my heart.
